Our Philosophy

Dog training shouldn’t feel like a chore. We get our furry companions to enjoy life with them. Whether you are starting your journey with early socialization and puppy training or dealing with an aggressive dog, fast and fun training routines will help keep you motivated!

Our goal is to ensure that the dog understands what we are asking them to do. Clear and consistent communication means less frustration for both the human and the dog. For any dog training or puppy training program, fair and consistent rules are going to be necessary.

We strive to ensure that your pet will perform under any distraction and not just in the living room. Until your personal goals are met we will help you see success in every step of your dog training journey.

We couldn't be happier with our experience working with Cameron to train our dog, Whiskey. We were looking for general obedience and off leash training and we have been amazed with the results. Cameron's approach is science-backed and effective. He breaks down the psychology and makes it easy to understand and follow a structure. He also walks you through each step, giving you the confidence to trust your dog and build a stronger relationship. We have learned a lot and so has Whiskey!

I'm not sure I can come up with the right words to express my appreciation for Blue Ridge Canine Academy. Our 7 month old lab, Molly, was born with an amazing temperament -- she's sweet, happy, snuggly... everything you hope a lab will be... but she lacked manners. To be honest, although my intentions were good and I tried really hard, I just didn't know how to train her.She completed a Board and Train with Courtney and Cameron, who offered and encouraged me to visit weekly so that I could learn the techniques, the verbiage, and the methods of training. By the time I arrived one week into the Board and Train, Molly was proficient in the fundamentals, a proficiency that is required for all training moving forward. At that point, Courtney and Cameron could focus on training me! :)At the conclusion of every weekly training session, I'd watch Molly prance away with Courtney and Cameron, smiling at her trainers, and never looking back at me. It was the best feeling to know that she was happy while being boarded there and that she was being exceptionally loved and cared for. Each time I drove home from the sessions, I became more and more impressed with all that Molly was learning and accomplishing.Fast forward a few weeks -- Molly returned home her joyful self, with the added bonus of obedience. It is *so* fun to have a well-behaved dog! Just yesterday, she was at my kid's soccer practice and someone said, "Wow, she's that well-trained already?!" I've passed other people on walks and they've remarked, "My dog won't walk like that!" We're able to take Molly to more places and give her more experiences because she listens, understands what we're asking, and we're able to communicate our requests to her. Her world has is now wide-open.She is on track to being a therapy dog (a decades-long goal of mine) and I feel very strongly that she will change a lot of lives doing work that she is now prepared to do. I have so much respect and gratitude for Courtney and Cameron for the love and patience and time and energy and effort they put in to ensuring Molly has the best chance of pursuing this therapy goal.I'm amazed by Blue Ridge Canine Academy and would recommend them, without a shred of hesitation. They will listen to your needs, wants, and goals and will develop a plan that works well for your dog and for your family. Your dog will be well cared for and will come out of training happier, more confident, and more capable than you ever could have imagined.

Cameron has been very insightful on the “Why” of training from day one. This has helped us adapt through the training process and create a routine that works for us and our puppy! He brings a broad spectrum of knowledge and experience to the table which makes it easy to trust him with our dog. If you take training seriously, you will have an awesome experience with Blue Ridge Canine Academy.

Cameron and his team has walked us through being first time dog owners and at-home dog trainers of our Staffy mutt from 4 months old to a year. Every lesson was filled with actionable lessons, put into an understandable format. BRCA helped us to understand our puppy and now she is the sweetest and well-behaved dog in our neighborhood! I can't recommend these guys enough!!!

We have made leaps and bounds with Cameron guiding us along the way on how to train our pit bull. His pricing structure is extremely fair and reasonable for the work he puts in and the results we've seen over the past few months. At first you may think "why are we training the dog to do this" but you start realizing as time goes on that you're putting pieces of the puzzle together to make a bigger picture. The results speak for themselves, our dog is non-aggressive but can be very reactionary depending on the day. As is with most pit breeds they also have a tendency to be stubborn, leading to confidence issues that the dog can easily pickup on and will take advantage of if you allow them to.Cameron has helped us pick up on social and physical queues with our dog to the point where we now can take him out all weekend and it's never stressful. When we first got our dog taking him out socially was an extremely stressful experience. We've learned how to work around our dogs tendencies and correct any patterns before they happen. Cameron isn't just training your dog and creating the appropriate behavioral patterns and corrections to make a good dog, he's training you on how to be a good dog owner. The dog is only half of the equation. We plan on continuing our training with Cameron and are looking forward to being a part of his dog walk program in the future.I recommend Blue Ridge Canine Academy to anyone who wants to learn how to be a good dog owner. It's been worth every penny and all the time and effort we've put in.

My experience has been nothing short of amazing!! I came to blue ridge canine academy looking for help training my working line german shepherd puppy with a whole lot more energy than I have. Cameron and his team have been so supportive and vital to my pups upbringing. With every session I learn more and more than I thought I ever could. They show compassion and let me know when I am doing a great job, but also tell me what I can improve on and always guide me on how to do so. I never feel alone in my journey because of them! I will forever be grateful as I now have a confident, happy, and fulfilled puppy thanks to their help.
